Hi again,

Local rivers have fished well over the past few days with little patchy rain that we have received during the night. There certainly seems to be a heap of anglers out on all the rivers currently even during the week-don’t you guys work! It’s nice to see a uplift in the fishery with anglers generally pretty happy with there catches. I have been guiding a fair amount over the past few days and seen some very good fish come to the net.

The Hine has again been the best for me this week and was a breath of fresh air for me after a tough frustrating week on the Tongariro last week. I am told the fishing in the Tongariro has indeed picked up over the past few days and fish are being caught in other pools other than the bridge pool. Early starts are again vital to my success over the last few mornings but the effort really seems to be worth it as by lunch time most of the best runs have been picked over.

The river mouths have been very good this week with calm conditions allowing many to enjoy lake fishing while taking in some good sunsets and banter from other fisho’s. I have headed to the Waitahanui mouth twice this week and joined up to 9 other anglers just before dark with good results. The first night I hooked 3 fish on a heave and leave glo bug and the second I hooked two lovely jacks on a white boobie. These fish have been in good order and are sneaking into this river at night I hope.

Above is client Andy who is here with me for a few days from Samoa-we had a good morning fishing the Cliff Pool on the Hine with the best being the sexy jack that he is holding before release-god I wish they were all like this.
